Hush Hush heroes and villains themed party takes over the Bloor/Gladstone branch of Toronto Public Library

TORONTO —On Saturday, October 15, 2016, a heroes and villains themed party-in-the-stacks lights up the Bloor/Gladstone branch of Toronto Public Library (1101 Bloor St. W.). Tickets for the action-packed Hush Hush party are on sale now.

Starting at 9 p.m., guests can track down a sidekick or confront their arch-nemesis, enjoy top notch drinks and eats, take in a virtual reality experience and visit the airbrush tattoo parlour. An exclusive Toronto Life photo booth will document the night’s alter egos and hijinks while one of Toronto’s hottest female DJs, DJ Barbi, lays down party tracks.

Disclaimer: red tights and Spiderman™ costumes not required.

“Hot on the heels of last year’s Halloween theme, we’re keeping the party going with heroes and villains,” said Julie Flynn-Still, director, development & strategic partnerships, Toronto Public Library Foundation. “It is so exciting for the Toronto Public Library Foundation to be able to throw this annual event – a great party for a fantastic cause, in one of the most beautiful spaces in the city.”

If an all-out, graphic novel party in a library wasn’t enough, funds raised through Hush Hush help Toronto Public Library achieve its goal of expanding access, increasing opportunities and building connections. Since the inaugural event in 2013, the annual Hush Hush parties have raised $180,000.

Specifically, Hush Hush supports Toronto Public Library’s Young Voices program, which encourages creative expression in Toronto’s youth. The program includes the annual Young Voices Magazine of Teen Writing and Art, the annual Young Voices Writers’ Conference and a Young Voices Electronic Writer in Residence.

Hush Hush is presented by New Collection, the Toronto Public Library Foundation’s young patrons program. New Collection is your all-access pass to events that bring together the culturally curious with prominent writers, artists and intellectuals. Members are young Torontonians (ages 19 – 45) who get exclusive access to the city’s vibrant literary scene.

We thank TD Bank for being the lead sponsor of Hush Hush.
