Aveda Canada to Raise Over $500,000 for Earth Month in April 2015

Aveda launches its global Earth Month initiatives on April 1st to engage guests in interactive events and gifts that give back to raise funds for the Global Greengrants Fund and local charities. Aveda Canada extends its 9-year relationship supporting WaterAid Canada, an international development organization with a mission to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene, and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities. Through the sale of its limited edition Light the Way candle, national Walk for Water, and global Cut-A-Thon events, Aveda Canada aims to raise $575,000, contributing to the over $6 million raised by the global network each year.

“Water and sanitation underpin health, education and livelihood, yet millions of people live without these basic human rights,” says Ray Civello, President of Aveda Canada. “As of 2014, we have raised over $2.8 million through our national fundraising efforts, candle sales and special events. Behind this number lies the stories of how lives have been touched in some of the world’s poorest countries, all because of our commitment to this cause.”

Lighting a Brighter Future

Each year, Aveda creates a limited edition candle to support Earth Month with 100% of the purchase price donated to Global Greengrants Fund for clean water projects around the world. The 2015 Light the Way candle is made with 100% certified organic essential oils, including certified organic vanilla, cinnamon, and ylang ylang from Madagascar, and housed in a carton designed by local children living in Mankara, Madagascar who benefit from Earth Month funded water projects.

Earth Day & Beyond

Over the last 9 years, Aveda Canada has raised funds for WaterAid through its Walk for Water and Cut-A-Thon events. The Guinness World Record breaking Cut-A-Thon will take place globally at Aveda salons on April 13, 2015. Aveda’s network of salons come together to raise funds through services. Continuing celebrations, Aveda Canada will host its annual Walk for Water on Earth Day, April 22, 2015 with walks taking place in 15 cities across Canada.
